Mother’s Day Message from Governor Scott and First Lady Ann Scott

This Sunday, families throughout Florida will gather together to honor mothers of all generations.

~No matter how old we are, our mothers deserve our thanks and appreciation for their selfless and unconditional love.

~On Mother’s Day, some Floridians will also honor grandmothers, aunts, sisters, and others who have filled the all-important role of mother in their life.

~At the same time, many men and women of our armed forces and the Florida national guard are serving our country and will extend and receive their Mother’s Day wishes from faraway places as they defend our freedoms.

~As a mother myself, I know the challenges and rewards of being both a mentor and a friend to my two daughters.

~And we are especially mindful of the special commitment of single mothers, foster mothers, and adoptive mothers.

~There is no doubt, all mothers work tirelessly to provide a better life for their children.

~Our moms inspire us and help us do the right thing:

~Whether it’s making sure we are eating healthy foods and being active —

~Reading with us, doing homework, and studying for school —

~Protecting us and giving us the opportunity to dream great things for the future —

~Or nurturing our talents and encouraging us on a new adventure.

~Rick and I thank our own mothers today …

~And we pray that you are able to celebrate with the mothers in your life.

Happy Mother’s Day!
