Governor Scott Commemorates Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

5/27/2011 Tallahassee, Fla. – To celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, Governor Rick Scott signed the attached proclamation regarding Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.

“Florida is enriched by the diversity of cultures and traditions represented by the residents of this great region. This diversity is part of what makes our state an ideal location for international business and trade.” Governor Scott said. “I would like to express my appreciation for the contributions to Florida that are continually being made by the Asian American community.”

In addition, the Governor and First Lady Ann Scott hosted a reception last evening at the Governor’s Mansion to honor the achievements and contributions of Asian Pacific Americans. The Honorable Elaine Chao, the 24th U.S. Secretary of Labor, joined them for the event.

The Asian Pacific American Heritage Month celebration is a partnership between the Executive Office of the Governor and Florida’s Foundation. The reception was supported by AT&T, Prudential, Keiser College and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida.
