Florida Governor Rick Scott and 32 Other Governors and Governor-elects Speak out on Federal Healthcare Mandates

January 7, 2011 Tallahassee, Fla.Gov. Rick Scott, along with 32 other governors and governor-elects, signed a letter sent to federal leaders today regarding healthcare-related federal mandates and the restraints put on individual states.

“It is imperative that we stop federal healthcare mandates that tie the hands of states,” said Gov. Scott. “Florida should get to determine what program is the right fit for our state in terms of a Medicaid program, and the federal mandates are essentially the federal government telling us what program will work best for our state, while we are forced to pick up part of the bill.”

A copy of the letter signed by 33 governors and governor-elects is attached.
