RE:                  Flags at Half-Staff in Honor of Former City Commissioner Rufus “Butch” Alexander III of Fort Pierce

 

On Wednesday, July 28, 2021, former City Commissioner Rufus “Butch” Alexander III passed away. Alexander served as Fort Pierce City Commissioner from 2001 until 2021. He also served as vice mayor, chairman of the St. Lucie County Fire District, and was a founding member of the Democratic Black Caucus of St. Lucie. Alexander will be remembered for his community involvement and compassionate heart.

 

To honor the memory of former City Commissioner Rufus “Butch” Alexander III and his service to our state, I hereby direct the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff at the St. Lucie County Courthouse in Fort Pierce, Florida, the City Hall of Fort Pierce, Florida, and at the State Capitol in Tallahassee, Florida, from sunrise to sunset on Friday, August 6, 2021.
