Tallahassee, Fla. – Today, Governor Ron DeSantis is excited to announce two new judicial appointments to the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court. The Ninth Circuit Court encompasses Orange and Osceola Counties.

Gisela Laurent, of Winter Garden, to serve as Judge on the Ninth Circuit Court

Judge Laurent has served on the Orange County Court since 2017. She previously served as Sole Practitioner at the Laurent Law Firm, P.A. Laurent is the first female Hispanic judge to be appointed by a Governor to the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and her law degree from the University of Florida College of Law. Laurent fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Patricia Doherty.

Joshua Mize, of Winter Park, to serve as Judge on the Ninth Circuit Court

Mize has been the Owner of Mize Law, PLLC since 2018. He previously served as an Associate at Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and his law degree from the University of Florida College of Law. Mize fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Gail Adams.
