Tallahassee, Fla. – Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointments of Alissa Ellison and Jared Smith to the Thirteenth Circuit Court. The Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court serves Hillsborough County.

Alissa Ellison

Ellison, 39, of Tampa, Florida, has served as a Hillsborough County Judge since April 2018 and previously served as a shareholder at GrayRobinson. She received her bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and her law degree from Stetson University College of Law. Ellison fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Chet Tharpe.

Jared Smith

Smith, 44, of Lutz, Florida, has served as a Hillsborough County Judge since March of 2017. He previously served as a partner at Rumberger, Kirk and Caldwell as well as a Captain in the Air Force. He received his bachelor’s degree from Fort Hays State University and his law degree from Washburn University School of Law. Smith fills the vacancy created by the confirmation of Judge Tom Barber.
