Tallahassee, Fla. – This week, Governor Ron DeSantis, along with the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO), celebrates National Small Business Week by recognizing the value small businesses bring to Florida’s economy and communities. This week is dedicated to showing support for Florida’s small businesses and entrepreneurs as they grow their businesses, create more jobs and develop sustainable and resilient communities.
“Florida’s small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy,” said Governor DeSantis. “I am proud to recognize the importance they play in our communities and I am committed to enhancing an environment that supports entrepreneurs’ creative energy. Florida will continue to support small businesses by reducing government costs and interference whenever possible.”
“National Small Business Week provides an opportunity to recognize the creative, energetic and dedicated entrepreneurs throughout our state,” said Ken Lawson, Executive Director of the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. “Small businesses play such a large role in our economy, not only by providing jobs, but in their support of their local schools and communities.”
As of June 2018, Florida had more than 440,000 small businesses that created one out of three net new jobs over the year. Click HERE to see the proclamation from Governor DeSantis on National Small Business Week.
